COIN Centre

The COIN Centre has provision for up to 12 students with Communication and Interaction Difficulties.  All students are educated in the mainstream school but have access to a specialist Speech Therapist in school, who works with students on specific areas of language difficulty and trains staff in the specific needs of the students. In the classroom, specialist Teaching Assistants support the work of the Speech Therapist as well as the needs of the students. Teaching Assistants liaise with teaching staff in differentiating the curriculum to provide for a range of needs. Students may also be withdrawn from the mainstream for specific interventions as appropriate. Interventions include pre-teaching of vocabulary, literacy and social skills.
