Extra-curricular Timetable - Autumn TermIntent
We feel that extra-curricular is a fundamental part of life at Jubilee High School and gives our students opportunities to discover and develop personal qualities outside of the classroom, thus developing life-long learners. At Jubilee High School we offer a range of extra curricular opportunities from sports clubs to arts and creative activities as well as intellectual persuits, this encourages students to discover their passions, develop new skills, foster teamwork, and enhance their overall school experience. Therefore we would expect every student at Key Stage 3 to be able to find an activity that they are able to take part in each week.
Meta-concepts
The following meta-concepts underpin our extra-curricular program:
- Personal growth: the process of self-improvement and development on an individual level with regards to confidence, leadership qualities and resilience.
- Social skills: the abilities and competencies required to interact effectively and harmoniously with others.
- Communication: the exchange of information, ideas and feelings between individuals through active listening, nonverbal cues and public speaking.
- Discipline: the ability to maintain self-control, adhere to rules and guidelines and exhibit a focused and dedicated approach towards achieving goals.
Implementation
Our extra curricular programme consists of three core branches to allow students to have a variety of options to choose from to become active participants:
- Sports clubs
- Arts and creative activities
- Intellectual pursuits
Some examples of the types of clubs on offer in each of these branches can be seen below:
Impact
Our extra-curricular program plays a pivotal role in the holistic development of our students. These clubs go beyond the traditional classroom setting, providing a platform for our students to explore their passions. Our clubs provide a space for personal growth, the acquisition of vital life skills, and the formation of meaningful connections. Moreover, they foster a sense of belonging and promote inclusivity, creating a vibrant and supportive community within our school. By supporting and participating in these clubs, our students experience a board and balanced education that prepares them for future success as life-long learners.
We believe that our programme of extra- curricular has the following impacts:
Skill development- Extra- curricular activities provide students with opportunities to develop and refine a wide range of skills beyond academics.
